With $100,000 plus sales (per order) across 6 regions in the state of Michigan, DSS’s primary marketing consisted of print ads in fire information magazines and a stagnant Facebook page. In March of 2019, Doug Engwis was looking to grow his business and stand out from other top distributors. In the spring of 2021, Douglass Safety Systems was merged with Municipal Emergency Services (MES). MES is the largest fire equipment distributor in the United States. Doug Engwis credited this successful multi-million dollar deal to the success of the new marketing efforts, website, and general great digital first impressions.

I was an in-house graphic designer for CFT and reported to the VP Sean Kelley. I created various visual tools and info-graphics to increase the clarity of proposals. At times I was expected to edit PowerPoint Presentations to ensure all visuals were stable and uniform.Tools used most often: • Microsoft products – Word and PowerPoint • Adobe Illustrator

In March 2019, Douglass Safety Systems (DSS) was looking for someone to maintain its website and take its digital spaces to the next level. Based in Sanford, MI DSS was a statewide Fire Equipment Dealer. Douglas Engwis founded DSS in 1994. Since business had changed so drastically since opening, Douglas met with me to go over the website and his hopes for moving forward with his business.We discussed the look and feel of the current messages he was sending out. The website needed to be brightened and have more content added. I started with the products offered by DSS. Each brand had specifics and needed its own posing. These postings also needed to be organized and sorted. The current DSS website worked for a few months before Douglas asked for it to be rebuilt for the new year and decade.UPDATE: In the spring of 2021, Douglass Safety Systems was purchased by MES.

As the Graphic Design Assistant to the In House Designer at FACiT I helped problem solve for promotional materials, lay out faculty posters and display materials. I had to follow the rules of design to the "T" to ensure proper communications. This experience gave me an education in designing for clients and making sure their expectations were blown away.
