I wrote about U of M science for the College of Biological Sciences and the BioTechnology Institute, I was an associate editor of BTI's semi-annual publication, Gateway, and I ran BTI's portion of a social media campaign for the state-funded MnDRIVE initiative, in which BTI researchers play a large role.

I worked on optimizing DNA assembly techniques for the synthesis of multigene biosynthetic pathways, specifically looking at fungal terpene synthase clusters, as well as investigating the formation and targeting of proteins to Salmonella ethanolamine utilization compartmetns (eut BMCs). Additionally, I coordinated the HHMI undergraduate research program while the main coordinator was on maternity leave, I was a science advisor on an NSF-funded Multisite Public Engagement with Science (MSPES) project in collaboration with the Science Museum of Minnesota and other museums across the country, and I was an advisor for the award-winning 2014 Gopher iGEM team.
