Responsibility for continuing compliance of all health system hospitals with various federal and state legal requirements pertaining to the practice of pharmacy. Communication with prescribers regarding formulary-preferred medication use. Clinical evaluation of patients’ profiles to ensure they are appropriate candidates for medication changes. Patient counseling regarding formulary-preferred medications and generic drugs. Communication with prescribers and patients regarding prior authorizations.

Provision of pharmacy services for long-term care facilities within the state of Ohio, including nursing homes, group homes, and other extended care facilities. Responsibilities included communication with physicians and nursing staff regarding appropriateness of drug therapy, quality assurance of pre-packaged medications, medication order review, making and checking IV medications. Also managed narcotic area of pharmacy, including responsibility for ordering, inventory, and correct disposition of controlled medications, and properly maintaining the Pyxis dispensing system.
