This role was my placement as part of my teacher training. My main roles were to teach Level 3 Citizenship and Diversity and Government and Politics. I was required to engage with all aspects of teaching, the planning and delivery of creative and innovative sessions, ensuring that I utilised SMART targets differentiation and a variety of behavioural management techniques. The role required me to engage with student Individual learning plans, to assist them in creating academic and personal targets which will allow them to fulfil their potential. Having a detailed awareness of barriers to learning were essential, working alongside the college educational support I was able to put into place a strategy that would enable the student to continue to access education. I also engaged with pastoral aspects of the college, having one-one tutorial with students, giving them advice and guidance on a range of topics, including signposting to job websites and future life choices. This role formed part of my teacher training and required me to be observed and graded alongside the OFSTED marking criteria, my final observation was classified as a Grade 1,

I am currently on the agency of Protocol education, I am on call twice a week, when I am available. The role mostly consists of cover work. I am hired out to schools to provide support and cover when a member of staff is absent. I have to be a quick thinking problem solver in order to manage groups of students who emit challenging behaviour when a supply teacher enters the classroom. I have experience in a broad range of subjects which allows me to work in a range of classrooms.

My most recent full time position was working as a cover supervisor. My role was to supervise students when the regular classroom teacher was absent. It was my role to ensure that behaviour and learning were consistent during this absence. I found the role varied and challenging, students often find that when they have a supply teacher that this is a reason to be uncooperative. I have a style of behaviour management that ensures that the students understand that that they will be engaging with learning and that progression in studies will be made. I engaged significantly with engagement tactics and the correlation between motivation and increasing participation, I attempt to utilise contemporary media to combat this.

Learning support assistant: The role was to support students in trying to understanding the work, set by the teacher. Working as an Learning support assistant, it was my job to understand and interpret the material for any child. I needed to be adaptable and organised in order to effectively assistant in the management of a class. One of my main roles was to supervise the schools step up programme, I was required to supervise a room of students who are emotionally or behaviourally unable to function in mainstream class. A teacher will set the work for each child, it was my role to explain the work and give the student the materials they need to complete the work. Working directly with SEN students, I was directly involved in student statements and the CAF.
