In this position it is the Teen Volunteers job to work under their supervisor to assist with administrative tasks. In my position on the Orthopedic and Hospice floor I work to prepare and break down patient charts, file patient charts, answer patient room calls and alert the corresponding nurse or PCA and answer calls from other parts of the hospital. I also engage in other small tasks such as discharges, patient transfer, pickup and dropoff of discs and monitors and obtaining signatures for EKG/EEG strips.

Me and a group of others worked to label, sort, and package donation kits for the Gift of Life organization. We were given a tour prior to starting our work; we viewed the communal work spaces as well as the processing labs for the marrow donations. Not only was the field interesting but so was the work life. It gave me an insight to a possible career path; there's variety, peace, and influence involved

Fellow students are able to collaborate with others to take initiative in their own education. Each tutor is able to help in one or more subjects to assist fellow students.

With the reading buddies program a teen and child buddy are paired up to advance reading, collaboration, and learning skills of the younger buddies. The young students are entered into the system and categorized into reading levels and are able to pick a book on or above their level. For the first half of the allocated hour we read together and during the second half we play educational games.

The file clerks job is to prepare and organize files and documents for our MRI patients. I got experience of what working a 9-5 office job is like and also indirectly learned customer service skills.
