• Oversee regulatory and legislative affairs for seven Western states, including California, Colorado, Wyoming and the Pacific NW, representing $15B of company assets.• Build and manage external support teams, including over a dozen lobbyists and regulatory consultants in the West.• Participate on several boards, executive roundtables and regional taskforces to advance Nextera’s regulatory and legislative objectives.• Develop relationships with key legislators, regulators and industry leaders to establish Nextera as a trusted voice on energy and tax policy and effectively advocate for the company’s interests.• Develop and execute strategic policy advocacy plans to strengthen and create clean energy market opportunities. For example, successfully passed an energy storage tax incentive in Colorado, key to furthering the storage market there and providing hundreds of millions of dollars of opportunity for NextEra.• Develop political strategy at the local and state level to support complex project-level issues. For example, successfully built and managed a local campaign to permit a first of its kind 365 megawatt wind facility in Southeastern Montana.

• Internal and external facing role liaising with over 400 Silicon Valley businesses, local/state public officials, and community organizations.• Established policy positions for SVLG to promote clean energy at the CA legislature and the CA Public Utilities Commission (CPUC).• Advocated for clean energy policy directly to members of Congress, state legislators, state and federal regulators and local officials.• Testified before several local government bodies, including the CPUC and the San Francisco Board of Supervisors.• Authored and submitted several legal comments and letters of support to federal and state regulatory agencies related to energy policy. • Led SVLG’s business outreach campaign in support of the 2016 Measure AA to raise $500 million for SF Bay wetlands restoration.• Organized executive roundtables with business and government leaders in addition to several policy workshops focused on clean energy.

• Oversaw an extensive policy portfolio, including Energy/Environment, Transportation, Agriculture, Judiciary, and Labor.• Developed and advised member on policy positions related to these issue areas, including on Floor votes. • Initiated, researched, and assisted in drafting legislation introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives. • Accompanied and provided legislative support to the member at committee hearings, bill markups, and House Floor proceedings.• Composed pointed questions, remarks, and memos for the member’s use in House Armed Services and Agriculture Committee hearings.• Authored talking points, official statements, and letters to the president and executive cabinet secretaries on behalf of the member.• Represented the member in constituent and interest group meetings as well as at several district and D.C. events.• Liaised between the Member and home district organizations/institutions regarding legislation, programs, and initiatives.• Selected to participate in several Congressional Staff Delegations (e.g. congressional trips to military bases and industry tours).

• Monitored and briefed staff and the member on legislative issues including, Energy/Environment, Agriculture, and Judiciary.• Worked extensively on legislation to establish the San Gabriel National Recreation Area in Los Angeles, CA. This required a considerable amount of legislative research into the process for establishing National Parks as well as widespread outreach to public, private, local and national stakeholders.• Drafted and coordinated introduction of legislation, including legislation related to community health programs in schools.• Accompanied Member to committee hearings, markups, and House Floor proceedings.• Composed pointed questions, remarks, and memos for the member’s use in House Judiciary and Small Business Committee hearings.
