I created Playful Adventures in 2020 to further spread the message about the importance of outdoor play for children. I believe that every child has the right to outdoor play, and the tremendous benefits and joy playing outdoors brings.I have a Bachelor of Physical Education from the University of Alberta, and have been designing and managing recreation programs for all ages in the Foothills of southern Alberta since 2008. In 2016 I got to combine my passions for play, nature, healthy child development and physical literacy when I was hired by the City of Calgary to create and supervise their first Mobile Adventure Playground. The Adventure Playground was awarded the AV Pettigrew award from Alberta Parks and Recreation in 2018, recognizing communities or organisations that have made a significant impact on improving the quality of life of citizens through Recreation and Parks. I am a High Five Trainer and am currently teaching the Outdoor Play Practicum at Bow Valley College, in their Early Childhood Education & Development Diploma program.I have presented on Outdoor Play and Adventure Playgrounds at the following:2017 Adapted Physical Activity Symposium, Calgary AB2017 International Play Conference, Calgary AB2017 Alberta Parks & Recreation Association Conference, Lake Louise AB2018 Youth Development Through Receation Services Symposium, Red Deer AB2022 360 Wellness Conference; Holistic Wellness for Injured Veterans, Kananaskis AB2023 Youth Development Through Recreation Services Symposium, Gull Lake AB
