About Sarah Rees

I'm nosey. I believe everyone has a story to tell and I always want to hear it. I guess that's why I started my career in recruitment. That took me into Human Resources where I was able to learn more about people; what makes them tick and even more interestingly how the relationship between employee and employer works. Employee Engagement was a natural progression for me, along with Corporate Social Responsibility and Communications. I deeply believe in my own personal values and know first hand how important it is to work somewhere with a purpose and principles that match my own. I'm not unique in this, today more than ever, employees want to be a part of something that positively contributes to more than just the bottom line. This is where my expertise comes in, working with business leaders and employees alike to translate what people want from their careers and jobs into actionable initiatives that benefit both employee and the business equally. Engaged workforces are the true key to successful businesses. I am particularly enjoy Values and Purpose Work. Wellbeing Initiatives. Communications Strategy. Corporate/Social Events. Flexible working programmes. Charity Partnerships and "Giving back" schemes. Diversity and Inclusion. Green and Sustainable Work. Employee Engagement Surveys. Recruitment. Employer Branding. Talent Management. In 2020 I took some time out to write a novel (which I hope to publish soon) and now I am collaborating with Peppy Health. Peppy are a digital employee benefits provider who bring essential healthcare solutions to employees who find themselves needing support during key life stages; such as fertility, new parenthood and menopause. Progressive employers who partner with Peppy are making huge strides forward in addressing the gender pay gap and other inequalities that women experience in the work place. Please get in touch if you would like to know more.

  • Charles Tyrwhitt
Head Of Talent Acquisition, Employee Engagement And Communications
    Charles Tyrwhitt Jun 2017 - Dec 2019
    London, England, United Kingdom
My position at CT was wide and varied - which I loved. Essentially I had three key areas of responsibility all relating to Employee Engagement. 1. Acquisition: I headed up the Recruitment Team. Collectively we were responsible for all of the talent attraction at CT. We championed personality, passion and potential. Educating the business to select candidates not just for their skills and experience but for how they fit into the culture, live our values and grow with us. I believe candidates must be treated as customers and ensured their experience reflected the high standards and brilliant culture of this great brand. We did a lot of work to elevate the position of the employer brand to be seen as an employer of choice - steps ahead of competitors. 2. Communication: I was responsible for internal employee communications. I designed and launched an online Social Hub to connect people from all over the business like never before. The LINK (as we called it) is a vital source of connection, engagement and information. It was constantly evolving and innovating helping the business share and collaborate in exciting new ways. You'd love it! 3. Culture: I had the pleasure of driving CT’s Corporate Social Responsibility agenda and other Employee Engagement Initiatives. There was always have something going on; parties, pub quiz, art groups, Inspirational Speaker, sports teams, competitions... you name it. I delivered a complex Wellbeing Awareness strategy which supports a wide range of issues from Mental Health Issues, to Financial health, healthy eating and exercise. I established a relationship with new charity partner The Prince's Trust. In the first two years I led and oversaw countless activities that collectively raised over £250,000 to support the amazing work they do. The partnership was about more than money though, I also established a programme of opportunities for Young People from the PT to get involved with our business. Basically... we really gave a shirt!
