I have over 20 years’ experience in the international development and humanitarian sectors; 10+ years in a senior management, leadership role. My sectoral and thematic areas of expertise include: gender equality and social inclusion (GESI), conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV), the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda, gender-sensitive Security Sector Reform and Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL). Having spent the best part of my professional career working in fragile and conflict affected states, I am well versed in developing programmes in challenging regions and political environments, undertaking participatory scoping studies and analysis to inform programme development and implementation. A freelance consultant since 2017, I have undertaken numerous consultancies for a range of stakeholders (UK government, UN and multilateral agencies, NGOs). Assignments have included scoping studies, gender analysis, programme evaluations and learning briefs, programmatic support and training-related commissions. I have a strong reputation as a highly capable communicator (oral and written) and skilled evaluator using participatory approaches and mixed methods. Having completed a dissertation on sexual violence against men in conflict, I have an academic interest in the drivers of conflict-related sexual and gender based violence (SGBV) and masculinity theory.
