Author | Research Paper: Engineering Microbial Communities for Environmental Remediation Using CRISPR-Cas9 TechnologyIn this research, I explored the potential of utilizing CRISPR-Cas9 technology to engineer microbial communities aimed at accelerating environmental remediation processes. The paper focuses on harnessing the power of genetically modified microbes to degrade pollutants and restore ecosystems. Through in-depth analysis, I examined the applications of synthetic biology in addressing environmental challenges, offering innovative solutions for pollution control and sustainability. This project allowed me to merge my passion for genetic engineering with real-world environmental impact, contributing to my broader goal of utilizing bioengineering for sustainable development.

The club led a team of students in hands-on projects that push the boundaries of creative problem-solving in engineering. Our projects range from building a bridge out of raw pasta capable of holding 3 to 5 kg of weight, to designing a model for piezoelectric speed bumps that generate electricity for road lights. These are just a few examples of how we embrace the club’s core mission, which is to "explore" engineering through innovative projects. My role involves guiding these explorations, fostering teamwork, and encouraging curiosity in tackling real-world engineering challenges.

I founded and led Futurescape, a student-run science magazine dedicated to making scientific exploration accessible, creative, and fun. Futurescape aims to educate the public on upcoming innovations and ideas in science, in an engaging and interesting manner. I manage a team of 20 writers and editors who contribute insightful articles on topics ranging from biomimicry to environmental science. Each edition is designed to not only inform but engage- every article ends with a quiz, joke, or pick-up line to keep readers entertained. As Editor-in-Chief, I oversee the entire process, from brainstorming ideas and providing detailed feedback to all 15 articles, ensuring high-quality design and publication. Our collaborative approach fosters a dynamic, creative atmosphere that brings out the best in every team member, resulting in well-researched, vibrant content that sparks curiosity and inspires learning.

During my internship at Helix Labs under the mentorship of Dr. Poonam, I gained hands-on experience in advanced cytogenetic techniques, including sample harvesting, chromosome banding, and microscopic analysis. Working closely with Dr. Poonam and her team, I observed the intricate processes involved in cytogenetics, deepening my understanding of genetic analysis and lab procedures. The experience provided me with a strong foundation in lab safety protocols, microscope operation, and the importance of precision in research. This internship not only enhanced my technical skills but also fueled my passion for exploring the applications of genetic engineering and biological sciences.

During my internship at Apollo Hospitals, I had the privilege of working under the guidance of Dr. Punit, whose expertise and welcoming approach made a profound impact on my learning experience. He patiently answered my numerous questions and provided in-depth explanations of diagnostic techniques and treatment protocols. His mentorship allowed me to observe complex medical procedures firsthand and develop a deeper understanding of patient care. Dr. Punit’s openness and willingness to teach enriched my experience, helping me gain valuable insights into the intricacies of biomedical engineering.

I founded Resin Bliss to create unique, handcrafted resin keychains and jewelry, with many pieces following specific themes, like my Sky collection. Through consistent marketing efforts, including posting reels every two days, I grew my Instagram following to 1,000 followers, with one reel reaching 20k views and another going viral with over 300k views. Managing everything from product design to customer relations, I personally packaged each order and delivered it through the nearest post office. Running Resin Bliss has been a hands-on experience in entrepreneurship, where I’ve learned to balance creativity, client satisfaction, and business growth. In the end, I achieved a profit margin of around 20%, all while turning my passion for crafts into a thriving small business.
