Currently, I am working part time as a medical assistant for University Health Services at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I work with other healthcare professionals between three departments: Community Health, Occupational Medicine, and Travel. In each department I provide a variety of services and autonomy. This year my main focuses has been on the outbreak of Meningitis B on our campus and working with a team to create an emergency immunization plan. Thus far, in collaboration with the CDC, UHS has provided over 25,000 free Meningitis B vaccinations to our students and stopped the outbreak after only three student exposures.In the Community Health Department I provide an ample amount of assistance to nursing staff. Flu clinics are organized and put into action throughout campus and I work to make the process run smoothly. This includes: set-up, filling out forms, filling serums, screening potential patients, marketing, etc. Our Community Health nurses also work with students with severe allergies who required weekly allergy injections. I assist with this program by staying in contact with allergist, organizing serums, setting up patient rooms ahead of time to increase the efficiency of the hour long appointments. In Occupational Medicine, I am the first healthcare worker to have contact with patients before physicals that are required for jobs on campus. I utilize my medical skills my taking patient histories and vital signs before to speed up the appointment before the doctor arrives.

At Point Manor, I provided high-quality patient care as an in-demand CNA within acute-care, rehabilitation and nursing-home settings. This included, assisting residents with activities of daily living including helping with meals, transferring using assistive devices, bathing, dressing and grooming. Furthermore, I maintained patient comfort by utilizing resources and materials; transporting patients; answering patients’ call lights and request; reporting observations of the patient to nursing supervisor.
