Nutshell (www.nutshellmr.com) is a commercial outcome focused market research consultancy which helps you drive growth in your business. We combine quantitative and qualitative research techniques to generate great customer insight and help you turn it into growth.I lead our quant offer and I’m a quant researcher through and through, but it doesn’t stop me appreciating the value of high quality qual research and the power of combining the two. In practice, this has meant…- Brand re-positioning work for a charity, where we used focus groups and stakeholder depth interviews to establish how the charity was currently viewed and what people’s needs from it were, followed by an online survey to quantify the emerging findings- Taking insights from a tracking study into a qual brief to evaluate stores pre and post refit, leading to a strong uplift in performance of those stores- Using qualitative researchers to carry out structured CATI interviews with customers of an investment company, using additional probing to generate greater insight- Quali-quant clinics with Tradesmen to evaluate packaging redesigns for a trade product, using a quantitative questionnaire but in a qual-style setting

Part of this role involved turning previously developed ad hoc studies into something which could be rolled out consistently across a number of markets simultaneously, with improved efficiencies and quality as a result.
