Master's Thesis Projects:Biology education research: How selection pressure in ecological scenarios affects how students reason about evolutionUrban ecology research: Measuring the effects of road noise on avian vocalization detection in habitat near roadsCurrently, I work as a biology education research assistant in the Dauer Lab in the School of Natural Resources. I have synthesized two research projects (listed above), collected data in the field and through interviews, presented findings at seminars and conferences, and written scientific articles that will be submitted for publishing.For the first two years of my master's program, I worked as a teaching assistant for an introductory biology lab. In this position, I prepared lectures on biological topics, assisted students in the development of several lab skills, assessed student writing and reporting of lab findings, and advised students regarding their academic success.

I instructed an online genetics course, along with an in-person lab. I was very involved in the development of assessment tools used both online and in the lab. Additionally, I developed several online STEM education resources for university students and educators, such as a website that guides students through the genetic engineering process.

I developed a research project assessing anti-predator response of Fox Squirrels (Sciurus niger) in urban habitat. I also assisted with various wildlife management and animal behavior projects with the Fontaine Lab (School of Natural Resources), where I developed skills in wildlife surveying, animal handling, data collection and entry, radio telemetry, camera trapping, live trapping, science communication, and research presentation.

Developed activities and assessments for a genetics laboratory course with a teaching team, and instructed two lab sections of about 25 students per semester.

Promoted a positive, safe living environment for residents by organizing social and educational events, enforcing residence hall policy, and directing students to the appropriate university resource to meet their needs.
