The work from this project was given in a presentation by our management team at CPI 2017 (New Orleans) which won best paper/presentation. - Involved with the setting up of the application development laboratories. Involved getting several quotations, preparing a proposal for the best option, purchasing, installing, commissioning, and training colleagues on the equipment.

Based in the laboratory in the Quality department, the role involved material conformance testing, failure analysis & problem resolution for both car parts and fluids to the required deadlines. Reviewing supplier test data and testing to the relevant specification where possible or developing new tests as necessary. Producing or updating test processes as required and training of colleagues. Setting up and maintaining various bits of equipment in the laboratory. The role involved presenting information frequently to senior managers, external suppliers and colleagues both in the laboratory and across the factory. Additional responsibility taken on throughout the role involved being the Quality Care Representative for the laboratory. This involved attending monthly meetings, forwarding information to the laboratory manager and colleagues as well as meeting monthly targets for improving safety within the laboratory. Chemical analytical techniques predominantly used include ICP-OES, ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy, Infrared spectroscopy, Karl Fischer titrators as well as GC-MS/FID, Ion Chromatography, viscometer, refractometer and various wet analysis techniques.Materials analytical techniques predominantly used include the use of various microscopes, colour evaluation, polymer testing equipment including tensile testing, abrasion testing, stick-slip testing, adhesion testing and various conditioning environments (such as corrosion, humidity, UV, mixed cycles) where required.

Duties involved assisting in supervising large workshops, tutorials and the marking of lab scripts/tutorials.

The role involved the quality control checks of finished products involving checks on glass jars, labels, weight, visual checks, removing of sample for further analysis/ investigation if the product did not meet specifications. Preparation of lab standards and reagents. Calibration of lab equipment. On line monitoring of production. Following all standard operation procedure

Duties included serving customers, answering customer’s phone calls, and ordering and dispatching items. Other duties included cleaning shelves, maintaining the display and restocking shelves to ensure the business runs smoothly. Ensuring the other staff members within the shop did their jobs correctly, and efficiently. Being a key holder, enabling me to both open and shut the shop ready for the working day.
