A volunteer role supporting young people on a one-to-one basis each week, helping them reach goals they have set themselves. This role also gives me the opportunity to take part in various training sessions and work with groups across the North East such as the Youth Offending Team.

After working with this brilliant youth organisation in the past, I have been appointed the voluntary role of treasurer. The role includes authorising monthly payments as well as attending both finance and committee meetings regularly.

NCS North East is the regional delivery partner of the National Citizen Service programme. My role here includes running, managing and troubleshooting the Salesforce CRM system, as well as reporting and analysing large sets of confidential data. I carry out many independent tasks, such as analysing the impact the National Citizen Service programme has in the North East, as well as collating reports that enable my colleagues to understand the current statistical position of young people and education within our region.In addition, I provide analytical support to our internal operations team and external supply chain by analysing and translating large data sets at the end of each season; informing them for future programme delivery. I am also solely responsible for carrying out regular training to internal staff and our supply chain regular training on Data Protection, excel and Salesforce.

My responsibilities here included desk research, survey design, data analysis, project management and report writing. I worked on various assignments including programme evaluations, feasibility studies, market research surveys, labour market studies, economic and business research, economic impact assessments and bid writing. The post was an initial six month contract, however I accepted the offer of a permanent contract after three months in the position.

Here I was a sessional worker for the NCS scheme for young people. I was responsible for a cohort of young people and supervised them throughout the programme.

I was the UWE project leader for the Office for National Statistics (ONS) Undergraduate Working Group on Economic Statistics. This involved working in project teams to improve the way some of the most important UK economics statistics were presented and communicated and also researching and making recommendations on how certain methods for these statistics can be improved. To deliver this, I worked with fellow students and senior statisticians and economists at the ONS.

I led a team of 20 students on an expedition up Mount Kilimanjaro in June 2012. This included recruiting the team, ensuring they reached fundraising through regular contact with them and constant provision of fundraising ideas and encouragement. I also had to fill out a fortnightly report of how much each participant had raised and how they plan to reach the final target of £2,500. Whilst on the expedition I was responsible for ensuring communicating with the team within the country to ensure we were looked after. This taught me that teamwork and determination are paramount in order to achieve success.

Traveled extensively in South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and India supporting myself with various jobs. Volunteered in children’s homes in India and in South Africa.
