I have completed four and a half years of Elementary Education and Language Arts at Calvin University where I have had multiple internships. My experience in education started in high school, I was a part of a teaching program where I had an internship my senior year in a second grade classroom. Since then, I have had other internships in 1st and 2nd grade classrooms while at Calvin University. I student taught at Moline Christian Elementary in 1st grade and I created many lessons and gained a lot of experience with students at all levels of learning. Prior jobs I have had include 3 years at Gordon Food Service as a cashier that gave me a lot of experience in customer service. I also worked at Gilden Woods Early Care and Preschool where I became certified in infant/child safety and development. I was an assistant teacher at Gilden Woods and co-taught many lessons and worked with infants all the way up to school age. This experience gave me the skills to see the development of children before they reach the classroom.My most recent working experience is at Grand Rapids Christian Elementary where I worked as an Inclusion Aide. I used my prior education experience to teach students with disabilities and gained experience in team collaboration, written communication, and being able to adapt quickly. This written instruction I provided had to be precise and detailed to allow for anyone to effectively teach my lessons and to know where each student’s abilities are at. In turn, I have developed many skills that correlate with detailed writing in collaborative settings.
