Working in the Assurance, Risk and Governance team for the BGIUK division. Responsible for all aspects of Bupa's Risk Management Framework. I have a particular focus on supporting areas such as Operational Risk Quantification and Stress & Scenario Testing (which feed into Bupa’s Solvency II ORSA reporting), as well as emerging and strategic risk. Other responsibilities include risk business partnering a number of UK market unit functions as well as supporting our Care Services (aged care) business from a 2nd Line perspective.

Across my various finance roles in Bupa I have had responsibility for both management and statutory reporting, liaison with and management of external auditor relationship and external audit process as well as a strong focus on technical accounting areas (e.g. shaping initial Solvency II requirements and reporting, application of accounting standards etc.) as well as strong “back office” financial control and process improvement. Some key areas of achievement included overhauling the general ledger account reconciliations process and addressing both internal and external audit findings.

I was Financial Controller soon after Heinz sold off its seafood division to a VC group. Key achievements included implementing a new financial system and considerably improving management reporting.

During my time at Kellogg's I completed a number of roles including internal audit, process improvement, project and system implementations, financial and statutory reporting and implementation of Sarbanes Oxley for our European division.

I completed my ACA training contract with Deloitte's and passed all ICAEW exams first time. Whilst at Deloitte I was involved in a wide variety of external audits, ranging from small owner managed businesses, specialist solicitor and college audits right up to multi-national group consolidations (e.g. PZ Cussons) and major companies such as Yorkshire Electricity. I also was involved in a small number of acquisition due diligence processes and very active in the recruitment and development of more junior staff.
