• Underwent training via the ENGL 33000 (Academic and Professional Writing) course during Spring 2023.• During weekly shifts, act as resource and one-on-one tutor for undergraduate students in a wide range of courses in the humanities, social sciences, and sciences.• Using the Writing Program’s tutoring curriculum, provide small lectures during tutoring sessions to introduce students to concepts within collegiate argumentation and writing.• Following individual writing tutor appointments, write up feedback and a revision plan for the student to ensure they have the resources available to them as they continue their work.

Working in collaboration with other members of the Housing and Residence Life Staff, I act as a supporting figure for my House community of 46 residents. I plan weekly study breaks, organizing catering from local Chicago businesses and creating activities to engage students. I support the House Council as they plan larger events. I also act as an emergency contact, helping to triage situations that arise in the residence hall when needed.

Under the guidance of Professor Demetra Kasimis (Department of Political Science), worked on two projects directly related to my studies in the Classics. The first project involved tracing how the figure of Cassandra has been appropriated and transformed, particularly in regards to the silencing of women. My second role, which is in support of an ongoing book project, involved studying the Greek oikos as a site of conspiracy.

Sent out weekly newsletter to House of 130 people with important housing and student life updates. Organized social events and excursions around the Chicago area. Worked with a team of ten peers on House Council, meeting each week for an hour.

As part of the University of Chicago Writing Program's pilot program of undergraduate Writing Interns, I took the HUMA 50000: Pedagogies of Writing course over the summer of 2021 in preparation for my position. During the Autumn and Winter terms, I worked with a section of the College's Greece and Rome: Texts, Traditions, and Transformations core class, creating a comprehensive writing curriculum for my students for our triquarterly writing seminars. To support my students in their individual writing careers, I provided in-depth feedback on paper drafts, and, in collaboration with the section instructor, I offered comments on and suggested grades for submitted papers.

Working alongside two fellow Research Assistants and under the guidance of Dr. Mara Caden from the Division of Social Sciences, analyze French-language journal entries originally written during the Recoinage Crisis of 1696 and transcribed in 1872. Note particular selections of the volume of entries that relate to the recoinage, international commerce, or other contemporary economic issues.

Working with Book Review Editor for Classical Philology, keep a record of all books and book offers received from various university and professional publishing houses. Using this record, help the Book Review Editor communicate with Classicists from around the world who would be best able to review these new publications. Review article proofs for Classical Philology as needed.

• In collaboration with Institute for the Study of Ancient Cultures (ISAC) colleagues, perform tasks associated with the museum’s upcoming special exhibition on ancient Babylonian scribal education (opening September 2023).• Read and review drafts of the exhibition gallery text, providing feedback to make the material more accessible and informative for museum visitors. • Working with the ISAC’s Youth and Family Program Coordinator, develop curricula for elementary, middle, and high schoolteachers to use in their classrooms, incorporating material from the exhibit including clay tablets and figurines. • With the Children’s Book development team, read and review drafts for the book’s text (including narratives and activities), provide comments on proofs, and manage layout development using Adobe InDesign.• Train in handling, photographing, cataloging, and mounting objects for the exhibit, including fragile clay tablets, bone amulets, and stone reliefs. • Conduct independent research project on comparing scribal education and curricula in medieval European monastic communities and ancient Babylonia, then present findings at University of Chicago research symposium at the conclusion of the position.• Attend twice-weekly cohort seminars in research development and writing, hosted by the Franke Institute.

Under the guidance of Dr. Eric Wiebelhaus-Brahm, continued research from the previous summer, including revising manuscripts for publication in various academic journals. Compiled qualitative data about patterns in recommendations of truth commissions to include in an article about the role of time in transitional justice. Additionally, worked to reframe assertions about the truth commissions of Morocco, Sri Lanka, and Bahrain using theories of meta-communication.

Help to teach children (grades 5-8) various etiquette and social skills, as well as the basics of ballroom and line dancing

Worked at the Arkansas Children's Hospital Medical-Legal Partnership office as an intern. Organized case files for staff attorneys, submitted intakes into Legal Server software, contacted district and circuit court offices regarding past and current cases related to MLP clients, and completed legal research with the Arkansas State Code.

Worked with Dr. Eric Wiebelhaus-Brahm as a research assistant on existing projects related to transitional justice efforts across the world. Researched finances of hybrid courts and international tribunals, such as the ICC, ICTY, and ICTR, and updated academic research. Read, analyzed, and translated (French to English) legislation, academic papers, and NGO documents related to Tunisian transitional justice efforts since the 2011 revolution.

Lived with host family in Toulouse metropolitan area. Attended classes every day at Institut Catholique de Toulouse, where I was instructed completely in French and attended the highest level French classes. Experienced genuine French culture via immersion experiences, both those organized by CIEE (such as excursions to Carcassonne and Port-Vendres) and those sought out independently (such as a weekend trip to Tulle's Nuits de Nacre accordion festival and independent daily visits to local museums, libraries, and cultural heritage sites).
