Hello! My name is Sarah and welcome to my profile! The short tid-bits about myself is that I received a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering with a minor in Communication Sciences and Disorders. I am a proud West Virginia native that was born, raised, and educated in the "Almost Heaven" state. I left the state to start my Engineering life in the state of South Carolina. My interests lie in the fields of development, research, process improvement, and medical application. For more details about what I have been up to, please continue reading the paragraphs below...For nearly the past two years, I worked as an engineer that focused on process improvement (PI) projects amongst the manufacturing world of textiles. This involved creating projects, experimenting with different setups, and collecting/analyzing data to ensure productivity/efficiency was being optimized. Alongside the plant's run-ability, it was necessary that these projects focused on associate participation and feedback to ensure safety and ergonomics were always at the forefront. On top of the PI roles that came with the job, I took on the additional leadership roles such as co-leading the plant's PPE Safety Subcommittee, co-heading the development department of new/sample products, heading the Morale Team, and managing the department that introduces products into the plant. It was through these additional roles that enhanced my experience as a communicative liaison between our plant and the other sister plants/corporate/outside vendors. The safety committee and managing a department intensified my value of a safe workplace and transitioned my focus/drive for some projects. The Morale Team pushed me to create a work environment that was not just present for people to show up to, but a place that people looked forward to attending while encouraging the associates to connect with co-workers from all different backgrounds. Each additional role, introduced a new area of focus that opened my eyes to the world that creates a business. With that being said, I know development occurs within every business, but new product designs emphasized the love I have for research and learning. The extras are what made me a more well-rounded individual; I was able to become more confident in my role and accomplish what needed to be done. It helped drive me to receive an MPS award from the company on behalf of a project I led with a team of associates and to receive my Green Belt Certification. All together, this experience has helped make a strong work ethic even stronger; one I will possess with any company.
