Following a long and successful NHS career, I established Samphire Health Ltd in August 2013 in order to pursue interesting and challenging strategic health infrastructure and service development assignments. The combination of my NHS FT Executive Board experience and private sector health development experience means I am able to offer clients both an NHS and a more commercial perspective. My assignments to date have included: leading a major hospital redevelopment strategy, including the exploration of innovative funding strategies and business case development; a review of a hospital redevelopment strategy and the development of an elective care strategy. The guiding ethos of Samphire Health is to offer innovative strategic thinking in relation to both service design and estate configuration coupled with pragmatic solutions which are both affordable and deliverable.Clients to date have included :Luton and Dunstable University Hospital NHS FT, Ashley House Plc, Royal Free London NHS FT, IMD Consulting, Burton Hospital NHS FT, Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals NHS FT and Interserve

Voting member of the FT Board providing executive leadership of a varied portfolio including:• Business Development; • Site Redevelopment Programme;• Clinical Services Strategy development; • Outpatient Transformation Programme • ‘Delivering the new L&D’, major capital investment business as well as providing Executive leadership for the Estates and Facilities function

Responsible to the CEO for:• Strategic development and service planning including the Strategic Estates Reconfiguration Programme incorporating the redevelopment of the Watford Hospital site as part of a wider urban regeneration programme with 3 other major stakeholders known as the Watford Health Campus.• Leading the Estates, Facilities, Capital Planning and Clinical Engineering functions.• Successfully leading the Trust’s cost improvement programme for two years (Yr 1 £18.5m, Yr 2 - £15.5m)• Leading ‘Delivering a Healthy Future (DaHF)’ value c. £30m a complex Trust estate and service reconfiguration including the centralisation of Acute Services and closure of a DGH. • leading Public Consultation exercises; including winning a Judicial Review • leading the Trust’s response to the Surgicentre Initiative.

Provided strategic health planning advice to all aspects of the hospital sector including schemes during the bidding and operational phase of PFI schemes. This included the production of all of bidding documentation and selection of Design Teams to support bidding teams.

Working within SDC the Healthplanning Consultancy division of Serco I: Led the capital health planning business, including the provision of health planning advice to private sector (PFI) consortia and the NHS.Specifically provided health planning advice to the Equion consortium PFI bid to redevelop University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. The consortia won the bid; with the innovative approach to Health Planning being formally cited by the Trust as the main reason for the consortium’s success

Undertook a variety of Health consultancy assignments including leading the analysis of qualitative and quantitative evidence in support of 4 Commission for Health Improvement (CHI) Reviews and carrying out a number of operational performance reviews of acute trusts

I undertook a variety of general management and planning roles over a period of 9 years
