As Assistant Director of Orientation & Leadership, I oversee all orientation and transition programs at the University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College. This includes at least 20 in-person orientation sessions for first-year students offered throughout the school year, and a combination of in-person and online orientation options for transfer and non-traditional students. Orientation serves as the gateway to academic and social success of our new students and enhance the higher educational experience as well as college retention. The intention of our orientation is to: 1] introduce students to the college and its resources, 2] transition them into the college community while articulating college expectations, and 3] engage them with professors, administrators, and peers that will support their experience. I work across campus departments to synthesize these components and facilitate a one-day program to accommodate approximately 1,200 new students each summer and 500 students mid-year.In addition, I oversee 36 student leadership positions including: 20 Student Orientation Leaders (SOLs), 4 SOL Returners, 1 Orientation Intern, 10 Student Ambassadors and 1 Student Ambassador Intern. These student leadership roles are inter-related and provide multiple tiers of leadership opportunity for our students. As the coordinator of both the Orientation Leadership Staff and Student Ambassador staff, I: develop application and interview processes, develop and facilitate viable training, maintain constant communication and attention to personal goals, and supervise students' experience. With appreciation for reflection, I continue to administer pre-, mid-, and post-surveys to assess the success of the program as it relates to personal development and growth.

As the Orientation Coordinator, I am responsible for envisioning an orientation program for first-year students that: 1] introduces them to the college and its resources, 2] transitions them into the college community while articulating college expectations, and 3] engages them with professors, administrators, and peers that will support their experience. I then work across campus departments to synthesize these components and facilitate a one-day program to accommodate approximately 1,200 new students each summer. As the Orientation Coordinator, I developed the Peer Mentor program for current students. This paid student assistant position allows current students to develop and enhance skills in leadership, team-building, and public-speaking as they serve as the primary contact leaders for new students (and their family members) during orientation. With a committee, I recruit, interview, select, train and supervise 20+ students to fulfill this role on campus.

The Student Affairs in Higher Education (SAHE) Graduate and Doctoral programs at Miami University attract hundreds of applications annually. As the Admission Coordinator for these program, my responsibility included: 1] answering prospective student inquiries, 2] scheduling on-campus prospective student visits, 3] collecting and organizing application materials, 4] maintaining communication with applicants regarding their application status, and 5] coordinating favorably reviewed applicants to attend on-campus interview sessions. Additionally, I served as the student voice on the faculty selection panel to share insight about candidates and their ability to succeed in the program.

As a recent graduate from the institution, I served as an intern in the Center for the First-Year Experience office at the University of Wisconsin. In this role, I developed several components of our two-day orientation program for new students including: 1] the welcome session, introducing students to the campus climate, 2] the student expectations session, articulating the transition for students to take responsibility for their, academic expectations, social outlets, and time-management skills, and 3] peer-lead small group facilitation, allowing students to dialogue about the college experience.With a team, I interviewed, selected, trained, and supervised 25 New Student Leaders (NSLs) - current students that facilitated large components of the orientation program. In addition, I developed a summer schedule for the 20 students to work in various shifts over 35 summer orientation sessions.
