I serve as the assistant manager of the farrow to finish operation housing production and research animals. I am in a program where I serve as the assistant manager full time and work towards my Master's degree part time. At ISRL I supervise student workers, schedule and assist with research trials, help with breeding and farrowing, and keep diligent records of the daily proceedings of the farm. I perform all activities associated with the daily care of nearly 1,000 pigs including feeding, administering medications, and managing waste. I assist professors and their researchers to plan and execute research trials in areas such as nutrition and biomedical research. I have attended training on humane euthanasia. I am certified by Pork Quality Assurance and have an Illinois Department of Agriculture Commercial Pesticide Operator's License. I have also completed the Certified Livestock Manager's Training hosted by the Illinois Department of Agriculture and Illinois Extension, which includes training on manure management, nutrient management, and the Livestock Facilities Management Act.
