In this role, Sarah led development of fundraising strategies for IofC USA, which is a branch of an international non-governmental organization based in Caux, Switzerland. Shortly upon joining IofC, she worked to obtain IofC’s largest-ever grant and has also played a large role in managing that grant since its inception in 2017. Tasks included• Developing annual program and fundraising strategies for IofC USA’s domestic and international work in coordination with staff and partners;• Engaging institutional and individual donors, including writing annual fundraising letters and individual notes to IofC’s long-term donors;• Leading all proposals for local, national, and international foundations, including writing technical narratives in line with donor requirements, developing budgets, compiling administrative documents required for submission, and completion of online applications in a timely manner;• Performing key financial and administrative oversight functions for the organization’s grant portfolio, including monthly budget analysis, grant compliance reviews, etc.;• Coordinating with IofC’s Executive Director, Director of Operations and Accountant to strengthen IofC’s financial and accounting processes; and• Providing semi-annual fundraising updates to IofC’s Board of Directors and liaising with relevant board members at other times throughout the year to provide updates or to collaborate on contacting new donors.

Supported the development of fundraising strategies and proposals for CRS country programs worldwide, with a particular focus on US government donors. Specific responsibilities included coordinating development of complex, high-value global (multi-country, multi-region) proposals; facilitating design workshops with subject-area experts to develop results frameworks and program strategies for proposals; facilitating five-day workshops for different audiences on developing cost applications (budgets); and developing internal guidance for business development processes and procedures for use across CRS’ global institutional fundraising portfolio.

Supported development of fundraising strategies and proposals for CRS activities in Egypt, Bosnia and Hercegovina, Lebanon, West Bank/Gaza, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, and for national partners in Middle Eastern countries where CRS does not have a permanent presence. Reviewed funding opportunities from donors and advises country programs on their decisions to pursue funding within their strategic priorities. Assisted in capture planning and long-term proposal planning and contributedto the design and development of proposals, including technical applications/activities, organizational capacity and past performance, management plans, and monitoring and evaluation.

Acted as the Agency's liaison to US Government donor agencies including the US Agency for International Development, various bureaus of the US Department of State, and the Office for Foreign Disaster Assistance. Responsibilities included reviewing and negotiating agreement terms to reduce risks, ensuring Agency compliance with donor regulations, submitting proposals, reports, work plans, and other required documents; drafting proposals; conducting donor debriefs on unsuccessful proposals; delivering training to colleagues on USG rules and regulations; and tracking/communicating USG donor trends.

Managed NDI’s civil society and small grants project as part of a multi-year program to strengthen multiparty democracy in Uganda.

Directed a U.S. State Department-funded youth reconciliation program in northern Kosovo and southern Serbia.

Helped design and manage NDI's democracy and governance programs in Eastern Europe, namely Kosovo, Romania and Bulgaria.
