Organisational development - Fundraising - Building AudiencesI have 30 years of experience working in the creative sector, and have been a CEO of my own and other companies since 2006. What excites me is enabling organisations to make a step change, whether that be a fundraising strategy, a new structure and way of working, or a different audience-focused creative direction. My role at Spitalfields Music encompasses all of these, and more, and enables the charity to bring together communities across the East End of London through music. It's a total privilege.In the other part of my life, I run NSG Productions, a consultancy specialising in the creative sectors. A big part of my work is to lead fundraising training for various national bodies, including the Association of British Orchestras, Theatrical Management Association and Arts Fundraising & Philanthropy. Topics include a general introduction to fundraising principles, how to build membership schemes, creating a meaningful strategy, and capital fundraising. This sits alongside consultancy work with creative and educational organisations across the UK: capital strategies, fundraising planning, organisational reviews and support for CEOs and boards who need to understand how fundraising works. Ask me if you want to know more; if I'm not the right person, I'll gladly refer you to someone who is.I'm a regular speaker and chair at conferences, with clients including the British Council, European Broadcasting Union, International Theatre Conference Japan, and International Artist Managers' Association, on topics including the importance of EDI in arts organisations, and programme-led audience development initiatives.I'm a trained coach, and regular mentor for professionals in charities and other voluntary sector organisations, working with CEOs, trustees/directors, and senior management teams.Finally, I understand the importance of good governance through my own roles as a trustee and non-executive director with Motionhouse, Royal Philharmonic Society, and the British-American Project, where I'm Vice Chair. I was previously a trustee of the BBC Performing Arts Fund, and chaired two organisations: The Stringcredibles and Gigbeth.
