Sarah joined Ebeni as an ATM, Airspace and Future Air Mobility Consultant and uses her broad experience set to support existing industry and innovators to deliver safe and effective solutions, from vision to operation. Sarah works with air navigation services providers, airports, and regulators, and members of the drone and AAM industry, leading and managing a variety of development and improvement initiatives including: SMS development and implementation, airspace redesign, feasibility studies, safety and security audits, safety case development, assurance of operations and systems, human performance, behavioural change and project management. Example recent projects:• Sarah is supporting the Innovate UK Future Flight Challenge Project BLUEPRINT which is aiming to support the expansion of “Drone Zones” supported by UTM, where shared airspace becomes business as usual across the United Kingdom. She is responsible for the development of the end-to-end safety assessment, using the JARUS SORA methodology as a guide towards Regulator considerations for a BVLOS zone trial. She is also managing the project’s input to the Cranfield University Airport airspace change proposal, driving the trial application and activities within this work package. • Sarah is leading a small team conducting an independent and holistic review of Aquilas current environmental sustainability activities and their road to net zero, to identify areas for improvement and develop a roadmap to take them to net zero by 2035. Sarah is also leading Ebeni’s Future Air Mobility Service Line’s Marketing campaign, to engage and provide thought provoking discussion to industry.

ARPAS-UK is the Association of Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems. It is a not for profit trade association and professional body which supports and acts on behalf of the remotely piloted aircraft (RPAS) community, from start-up businesses to larger established operations.As well as promoting best practice, the Association also encourages a culture of collaboration and information sharing so that members are better informed and better prepared to make the most from market opportunities. Promoting our members and the standards we set, enables end users to easily identify the best and most appropriate operators to hire for their specific needs.ARPAS-UK members continue to break new ground in markets where RPAS (sometimes referred to as UAVs or drones) are delivering significant benefits.

Sarah works with air navigation services providers, airports, and regulators, on a global scale, leading and managing a variety of development and improvement initiatives including: SMS development and implementation, airspace redesign, feasibility studies, safety and security audits, safety case development, assurance of operations and systems, human performance, behavioural change and project management. Sarah provides coaching and mentoring to junior team members on projects. Recent projects have included:• Independent audits of an ANSPs safety management system effectiveness and identifying an implementing improvement plans that provide direct operational benefit.• Development of a tailored and implementable SMS for a regional ANSP. Further support with safety assessment mentoring for their new ATM system. This included development of a bespoke Just Culture Tool and safety culture framework for the ANSP.• Safety Case and assurance activities, including ATM system safety case development, independent assessments for new and existing services, airspace changes and u-space operations, which includes both cyber and physical security considerations. • Audits of existing operational processes and ATM systems to determine compliance with regulations and effectiveness, and make recommendations to enhance their operation.• Airspace redesign activities, a full turnkey solution including activities such as: option identification, technical assurance, consultation support, appraisal of design options and safety case development, including acting as focal point for the regulator.• Leading and managing a technical study which considers the viability of civil operations at an airfield near an international airport without negatively impacting its operations and maintaining an acceptable level of safety for the overall system.Sarah was the Quality Manager and manages the ISO9001 accreditation, conducts internal project and process audits, and managed the QMS.

Sarah was responsible to the CEO for Safety, as their Form 4 postholder, and led a team that managed and developed a global SMS for an organisation with both civil and military; AOC, CAMO, CFAOS (military only) and Pt-145 approvals. The organisation was geographically dispersed over 7 countries, and Sarah was responsible for leading and managing the dispersed safety and security team. Sarah was also responsible for:• Leading and managing a team of safety, security and risk experts dispersed across all sites.• Advising the CEO (the Accountable Executive) and other Directors and Managers on safety management matters.• Maintaining oversight and ensuring compliance with national and military regulation across seven countries, regularly engaging with 4 National Aviation Authorities and the UK MAA.• Ensuring the correct provision of resources essential to the SMS maintenance and continuous improvement.• Coordinating and communicating safety and security issues (both aviation and occupational health and safety) within the organisation, as well as with external stakeholders.• Chairing Safety Review Boards, managing a team of safety specialists including; investigators, safety representatives and the safety team at the Helicopter Service HQ.• Conducts Internal safety audits.

Sarah was responsible for the development and maintenance of an effective SMS. Reporting to the Manager Safety and Compliance, Sarah also advised the leadership team on flight safety matters. Sarah coordinated and communicating Safety issues within the organisation, as well as with external stakeholders. Sarah also provided safety training, human factors workshops, and safety days for staff at all 12 sites.

As the Primary Helicopter Services Occurrence Safety Investigator, Sarah was responsible for end to end investigations of both operational and maintenance areas of the business. During her time, she mentored and coached other investigators in techniques and report writing skills for completing investigations.

Sarah was a validated Tower, Approach and En-route air traffic controller and trainer, responsible for safely navigating a wide variety of civil and military aircraft through complex UK Controlled Airspace and safely and effectively co-ordinating military aircraft during any National Security Incidents. Additional responsibilities included:• Flight Commander (2008-2015) - Leader and Manager for a flight of 15 staff members, Sarah was the people manager at two Units to provide mentoring support, guidance, and professional development advice, as well as annual performance reviews. • Flight Safety Officer / Safety Manager (2008-2015) - Responsible for the management of the SMS and routinely provide reports and advise on safety performance matters to the risk owner. Provide support, advice, and participate in safety meetings, often acting as the interface between stakeholders. Spent 6 months on deployment in a dynamic air traffic environment managing highly complex airspace and procedures with airspace users consisting of drones, fixed wing and rotary wing multinational organisations. Also worked in a multinational environment as safety manager, responsible for safe and efficient operations of fixed wing, helicopter, remotely piloted air systems and drones. Conducted safety assessments as part of internal change management processes in complex ATC environments.• Project and Plans Officer (2013-2015) - Responsible for ongoing project and development programmes associated with mission critical equipment and airspace utilised by the unit. Act as the core interface between military and civilian controllers, engineers, safety representatives, and military and civilian implementation teams. Key Responsibilities included providing project management and oversight to the requested change, requirements gathering, analysis and development, provide input in the solution design, including oversight of the testing and improvement.
