Sarah has over 20 years experience in environmental sustainability management, including design, development and implementation of environmental management systems (aligned with ISO 14001). She has worked across public and private sectors including non-profit. Sarah holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Sustainability and is a current member of the Environmental Institute of Australia and New Zealand.In late 2014, she joined the Department of Mines and Energy, first in the Energy Directorate and then moved to the Mines Directorate. Early in 2014, Sarah relocated to Darwin and began working for herself with a number of organisations as a contractor largely focusing on business systems development.Within her first 12 months at the Bureau, Sarah received two team excellence awards on World Meteorological Day in March 2012 one for work with the OHS&E Section and the other for environmental sustainability work on Willis Island (located in the Coral Sea) post Cyclone Yasi project.Prior to joining the Bureau, Sarah worked as an Environmental Manager with the Victorian Public Service. She was asked by the Metropolitan Waste Management Group to be a guest speaker at a forum on embedding waste management in to organisations at Sustainable Living Festival in February 2011. In 2008, Sarah received a Departmental Outstanding Individual Achievement Award for her commitment and dedication to the Department's Environmental Management Program. In 2006, she received a Certificate of Commendation from Sustainability Victoria, acknowledging her commitment to "Excellence in Behavioural Change Programs"​.In 1996, Sarah co- founded the Equipment Recycling Network Inc (ERNI), a registered charity recycling special needs equipment and computers.Sarah's passion for environmental sustainability has been life long and her earliest memory of being inspired and involved with environmental issues was tree planting as a young child with the Girl Guides on World Environment Day.
