As of May 2024, I am officially licensed in the state of Tennessee and am registered with the Tennessee Department of Health as a Licensed Dispensing Optician.In this role, I am responsible for troubleshooting any prescription issues that patients may be experiencing with their eyeglasses with them over the phone or through a video consultation, and am also able to assist with any required adjustments of frames. I also consult with patients to determine how we can best provide them with comfortable and clear vision, and which of our lens/frame options will work best for them depending on their lifestyle.I am the sole optician consulting on our Lab Outreach program, through which I assist with orders that are flagged by our lab partners as "uncuttable," typically due to decentration issues along with other errors. After examining each order, I determine best next steps on a case-by-case basis, whether that means remeasuring the customer, adjusting the specs on the order, or restyling the patient into a frame that will work better with their prescription.I joined our mentorship program as a mentor and take on new apprentice opticians as they prepare to join our team full-time. I support and guide them as they build their own optical knowledge and help them prepare to take the National Opticianry Competency Examination to become board-certified opticians.I took and passed the National Opticianry Competency Examination in March 2021. I completed the National Academy of Opticianry's Ophthalmic Career Progression Program in December 2022. I took and passed the Contact Lens Registry Examination in April 2024. I passed my Practical Exam in April 2024 and became licensed in the state of Tennessee in May 2024.

I was also a member of a specialized team of experts who helped identify orders that we could not fill in our labs for various reasons, and had the responsibility of determining what the best next steps were and notifying the customer with these updates.

I was responsible for the design of luxury custom wedding invitations, announcements, and other stationery. During the custom design process, I met with clients to assess their needs and budget, as well as what direction they were looking to move in design-wise. I oversaw the process from start to finish and managed multiple clients and deadlines simultaneously. I was able to confidently guide my clients through the ordering, designing, and mailing processes and was proud to give all of my clients high-quality and personalized support. I completed several pieces of custom artwork for clients, including watercolor paintings, realistic landscape drawings, digitally-created icons, and line-art motifs. I was always more than happy to go above and beyond to ensure that every client's finished product was everything they had envisioned during our first meeting. Through this type of specialized consultative selling, I was able to develop and maintain strong relationships not only with my clients, but with other vendors in the wedding industry.In addition to the above, I was responsible for managing our storefront boutique. I acquired and displayed new lines and merchandise, did inventory analysis, and compiled financial reports for our retail space. Because we were a small business of two individuals, I was also responsible for all technical support required in our day-to-day operations and have experience in troubleshooting various technological issues (related to both software and hardware) on both Apple and Windows products.I assisted in keeping our social media presence active through posts on Pinterest, Instagram, and Facebook. I was also responsible for keeping our website updated and have experience in managing, coding, and updating both Wordpress-based and Squarespace-based websites.

I was responsible for corresponding with high-level executives and legislators on behalf of clients daily and frequently handled and distributed sensitive information and material with the utmost discretion.I scheduled meetings, drafted confidential and important internal documents including briefings and agendas for said meetings, and informational hand-outs regarding target contacts.

While studying at DePaul University, I was fortunate enough to work at the well-renowned DePaul Art Museum. I greeted guests and answered questions about various subjects: the exhibitions and artists on display, the museum itself and its history, and past and future programming. This required me to have a thorough understanding of the pieces being shown in the exhibitions as well as the curator(s) and artists involved.I also monitored and oversaw the gallery spaces and artwork during open hours and public events to ensure the safety of the works themselves. Before graduating and leaving the museum, I was trained in collections management and best practices when documenting, storing, and cataloging works of art.

Contratiempo is a Chicago-based Spanish literary magazine. While working with them, I was responsible for organizing the office space and previous issues of the literary magazine on-hand and developing an organization system that could be used in perpetuity as the magazine grew. I also compiled information regarding our contributors, translated written work from Spanish into English, and organized, planned, and oversaw events for the magazine.

I answered the phones and transferred calls as necessary, often times in both Spanish and English, answered visitors’ questions and greeted them when they entered the building, and compiled email lists and put them into a computer database for easy correspondence.I also helped to translate and correct wall labels for artwork, helped oversee events and made sure they went smoothly, and was able to use my background in art history and museum studies to relay information regarding best museum practices and the accreditation process as well as collections management.
