As a member of the digital team at KSHB, I work to make sure our reporters' excellent broadcast content makes it online in ways that are engaging and digestible. This means daily responsibilities like scheduling social posts on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, copyediting reporters' web stories and adding digital elements that make a story shine, like infographics. I also write daily news stories and produce my own original content, including an ongoing video series about religion in the Kansas City metro.

Everyone should work retail at least once, right? It teaches you patience, kindness and, most importantly, excellent shirt-folding skills.

While I was an intern with POLITICO's European branch, I provided senior staff with support in the form of research and background interviews. I attended government events, familiarized myself with tech policy in the European Union and ran the technology beat's Twitter account. Ask me about the digital single market!

I've loved infographics since before I knew 'infographic' was a word! At the Missourian, I learned to create data visualizations with Adobe Illustrator, HTML coding and Infogram, and I had the benefit of many great teachers to help me learn visual ways to display information. As someone who's never been able to draw, this is a skill that kind of makes me feel like I know how to draw.

As an editorial intern with Columbia Business Times and its sister publication Columbia Home, I produced several features each month in addition to writing daily news stories.

My first-ever internship at my hometown newspaper saw me writing mostly about higher education topics at the University of Nebraska-Kearney, which is the subject of an annual special issue at the Hub. I also reported daily news, community events and human interest stories.
