Kid's World (Apparel/Shoes) Retail Management InternAs a Retail Management Intern, I contributed to the department's success by meeting my own personal sales goals while maintaining a focus on Customer Service, all while shadowing and assisting the Department Manager and Assistant Department Manager to learn and prepare for a management position. I pulled and analyzed daily reports for the department and store to better understand what sub-departments were under-performing in order to adjust their merchandising to promote sales growth. I attended weekly manager meetings to discuss store opportunities for growth and events taking place within the store for the week. Organizing merchandise in the stock room was an important daily task in order to manage replenishment shipment and separate new fall merchandise that must be stored until the Anniversary Sale when it is placed on the floor. Working with the sales team, I made sure that all product on the floor was properly sized, merchandised and accounted for to promote sales and reduce the potential for shrinkage and loss.

As a group, we created a presentation from this proposal to be shown in front of a team of representatives from Target.

My main role as sales associate was fitting children for athletic, casual and dress shoes and handling customer transactions. I was responsible for opening and closing the store on a regular basis, unpacking inventory, and keeping the stock room and front of the store clean and organized daily. I handled inventory transfers between the Columbia and Charlotte locations, and on several occasions traveled to Charlotte to bring inventory and work in the Charlotte store when needed.I was also responsible for placing bulk and special orders weekly, and following up with the company representatives to ensure prompt delivery. I unpacked and checked in each delivery, and made returns to the companies when needed. I traveled with the owner and manager to the Atlanta Shoe Market as a buyer to purchase merchandise for Fall 2012, and offered input based on customer preference and sales numbers. I represented the store at several area conventions, informing new customers of the business, making sales, and educating attendees on the importance of proper fitting shoes for children.
