I just graduated with my Masters in Nutrition and Metabolism from the University of Texas Medical Branch and completed the 1200 hour dietetic internship. Nothing has been more rewarding than being involved in my local community and seeing people excited about nutrition and health. Nutrition wasn’t something I learned early on, but rather something I fell in love with over time as I navigated my health condition after being hospitalized with a rare, idiopathic form of pancreatitis in high school. My drive to become a dietitian was only fueled more by my love for people and desire to instill empathy in the patient experience.I received my bachelor's in Food Science from Sam Houston State University as a Smith-Hutson scholar. Here, I was a member of the Elliot T. Bowers Honors College and an active member of the Sam Houston Student Dietetic Association. I cultivated my leadership skills by serving one year as treasurer and another as vice president of the dietetic association. I also volunteered at the Montgomery County Foodbank, where I learned to mix creativity with my nutrition knowledge in recipe development, cooking demonstration videos, and recipe card creation. Today, I get to continue this as a Nutrition Educator at the Galveston County Food Bank, and I have also become comfortable creating curriculum, presenting, and teaching classes. I feel truly blessed that this is where I get to officially start my career, and I'm eager to see where it takes me.
