Sarah's Masters in IP investigated whether open source biotechnology was a possible alternative for developing countries.

LAWCO (Legal Welfare Community Organisation) is a student run initiative at the University of Cape Town. LAWCO is a sub group of SHAWCO, a well known NGO in South Africa.This group believes that the children of South Africa need to be taught more about their rights and the law in South Africa. I am very passionate about this project, as I have always believed that people need to be taught their rights and given the knowledge to know where they stand with regards to South African law. I had two portfolios, namely Finance and Event. I am highly organised and have excellent administration skills. I was required to plan fundraising events and to secure sponsors for such events. I organised the events meticulously to ensure that they were successful. I managed to raise a considerable amount of money for LAWCO through my managing and planning of fundraising events. I was also responsible for the managing of LAWCO’s finances and controlled the flow of money in and out of the account.
