About Sarah Perkins

I am a dedicated civic engagement professional with over a decade of experience applying community service and service-learning pedagogy to curricular and co-curricular student programs. I am passionate about supporting students’ personal and professional development through their leadership and service engagement. I find great joy in helping students to discover their own interests, clarify their values, and identify themselves as catalysts for positive social change. I am successful in connecting students, staff, faculty and community members with meaningful service experiences ranging from one-time opportunities to immersion trip experiences to semester-long academic based courses. I emphasize mutually-beneficial partnerships and critical reflection to encourage deeper understanding of one’s self, community, and service focus areas. My professional interests include civic engagement and service-learning as well as critical reflection and a continual exploration of power, privilege, and oppression. My specialties include advising students, event planning, training and curriculum development, and service trip immersion best practices. I thrive in team-oriented environments that promote authentic collaboration and community-building.
