Creator of "Painted Light"Works of art. Spaces of beauty.Painted Light is a vibrant explosion of color - conveying mood, movement, and rhythm. To create it, I have explored the unique qualities of heat-resistant paint applied directly onto light bulbs (or other light sources) and then projected onto canvas, through a translucent screen, or within a lamp shade. Painted Light is created, too, by working with the size, shape, and intensity of the light bulb's filament - along with the size and shape of the bulb to create a feathering, flowing, and folding of color and design.Painted Light allows - even encourages - the viewer to become an integral component to the art piece itself by interacting with it directly. By rotating the lamp, changing the distance of the bulb from the canvas, or by changing the surface on which, or through which, the bulb is projected, the viewer can continually reinvent the projected image.Earlier this year, I created my first long-term public installation for Boundless Yoga, a boutique yoga studio located at 13th and U, NW (across from Starbucks and the U Street Metro). It is comprised of six 30” x 40,” 8-inch deep wooden window boxes with a stretched semi-transparent white fabric covering each side - and a lamp in between - allowing both the yoga students and the outside passers-by to enjoy them at night. I now design and create lamps, shades, and fixtures that work with my Painted Light concept. Because of its portability, interchangeability, and sheer beauty, lighting projects of this nature are ideal for creating mood and ambiance in restaurants, bars, spas, salons and home spaces.Specialties: Creating beautiful spaces with light and color
