As a Career Counselor with CMS, I served the needs of clients enrolled in the State of Minnesota’s Dislocated Worker program, either individually or through a Dislocated Worker project due to a mass layoff. I provided vocational counseling through building relationships with clients, evaluating job readiness, and developing Individual Employment Plans with each client. Key to being a successful career counselor is building a strong Counselor/Client relationship, understanding the client’s previous work experience, and encouraging the client to make progress toward reaching their individual career goals. I managed my caseload with a high regard for customer service, and recorded counselor/client activities as required by state and federal practices in the Workforce One database. In addition to these duties, I also served as the Workshop and Training Coordinator, planning workshops, managing relationships with training partners, and serving on the organization's training panel.
