As General Counsel for a North American manufacturer of child safety restraints and strollers, I was fortunate to be exposed to new and interesting legal issues that helped me develop as a corporate generalist. I managed the Company's legal affairs throughout the Americas and supervised the activities of the Assistant General Counsel and outside counsel on a variety of issues. I also provided regular updates to the North American and Global leadership teams on the status of legal matters and department spend against budget. As Senior Litigation Counsel for the Husqvarna Group, I managed and supervised all aspects of commercial, product liability, intellectual property, construction, automotive, employment, and asbestos litigation from inception through trial and appeal. As a global producer of outdoor power products for lawn and garden care, I had the opportunity to work with counsel from around the world, including in the United States, Canada, Ireland, Sweden, Brazil and Australia. I regularly partnered with engineering, marketing, customer service, IT, and HR on issues such as product improvements, regulatory compliance, social media communications, warranty claims, customer relations, supply chain and commercial agreements, e-discovery, internal investigations, EEOC and workers' compensation claims. I developed and implemented processes for the efficient and cost-effective handling of claims and litigation (e.g., procedures for investigations and product inspections, litigation plans with milestones for the evaluation of risk triggers, checklists/forms for the preservation, collection, processing, review and production of data and documents, as well as templates for pleadings, discovery and trial).

In private practice, I defended products liability, toxic tort, commercial, employment, environmental, asbestos, and insurance disputes and tried cases in state and federal courts. I served as national counsel for a medical device manufacturer and developed safety campaigns for industrial manufacturers to reduce liability exposure. Given the 1-year statute of limitations in KY and TN, I represented pharmaceutical, medical device, automotive, and other companies in the removal of serial, mass and class actions to federal court and would transfer the cases into MDL proceedings, when applicable. I began my legal career in Chicago, as an insurance coverage and defense attorney. In addition to representing insurers in insurance coverage matters, I have defended companies in personal injury, automotive, products liability, wrongful death, environmental, toxic tort, premises liability, construction, asbestos, and professional liability cases. I worked with property and casualty, professional liability, captive, and excess insurers to achieve favorable results in complex litigation. At CSG, I worked with the same group of partners, associates, and paralegals with whom I started my legal career. We tried several cases to verdict in state and federal courts and worked with national counsel to defeat class certification in a medical device case. I left Chicago to move closer to family after the birth of my twins.
