I'm grateful to be serving as the COO charged with standing up a new U.S. based office for an international nonprofit. This 70 year old charitable org delivers aid to victims of persecution in more than 60 countries through 1,200+ international partners. In this role, I've had the chance to build organizational infrastructure from scratch -- coordinating documentation, setting up finance/HR/receipting systems, hiring team members and meeting compliance regulations. Prior to this, I served in related work as the HR Executive at a nonprofit office with 75 U.S. employees. This position offered me the chance to lead in a fast-paced, high-growth period where the organization grew from raising $23m in revenue to $30m+ (with the highest year coming in at $38m). My 20+ year career (15 of which were spent in faith-based orgs; 10 in nonprofits) evolved from directing outreach at the local church to working with Christian publishers to create/market resources for churches. It was a natural next step to serve as Sr. Director of MarComms at an international, faith based org -- which grew into a place on the executive team.Over my career, I have worked hard to meet the changing demands of my work, completing a Masters (MEd.) in Administrative Leadership and a Doctorate (PsyD) in psychology. As my responsibilities expanded, I also earned a Business Development Specialization (Wharton); professional certificates in Operations Management (Cornell), Fundraising & Financial Modeling (Cornell) and Human Resources (Duke); as well as SHRM & aPHR Human Resources credentials.I have come to firmly believe people are an organization’s greatest resource. And when we put them first, cast inspiring vision and build robust systems that serve their needs, they are happy to bring their best ideas, energy and effort to our work. The mantras I say on repeat? "We don't compete with each other, we root for each other's success;" "a win for you is a win for me" and "we will cross the finish line together." With clear vision and strong moral and administrative support, I'm convinced our staff can see their jobs as their best opportunity to do great things for our world.
