I provided leadership and strategy for the materials and public relations of the library. I managed the collection budget, public relations team and website. I enjoyed regular shifts on the reference desk as well!As head of collections, I created and monitored the materials budget allocation to all departments and assign collection development projects. I evaluated and selected print, electronic and non-traditional resources to develop and maintain the collection with input from subject selectors. I had the privilege of purchasing all adult fiction materials and Library of Things items.As head of the public relations team, I coordinated cross departmental marketing and publicity for the Library; supervised the Media Relations Coordinator, Community Relations Coordinator and Volunteer Coordinator, and managed the PR budget. I created and maintained the public website using WordPress, as well as our internal intranet.

I managed the operation of the automated systems in the library (staff and public), researched and recommended computer hardware and software purchases, worked with the part-time Network Technician to develop a Technology Plan and kept appraised of technological developments as they pertained to the library. I hired, trained and supervised Automated Services staff, and gave work direction to the Network Technician. I prepared and monitored the budget for computer systems, copy/printing equipment, and automation system. I provided staff training and documentation in the use of information technology and computer systems. I coordinated and conducted ongoing information literacy and technology training for the public.In addition, I designed, created and currently maintain the library’s website using Wordpress. I created and maintained the Library's Intranet. I also staffed regular shifts on the adult reference desk and oversaw areas of nonfiction collection development.

I developed a new website for Brighton District Library using Drupal's open source content management system, launched early in 2011 (www.brightonlibrary.info). I taught computer classes to the staff and public, and provided readers advisory and reference service to the community.

I provided reference, reader's advisory and technology education to the public at a mid-sized public library.

I observed reference librarians in the Adult and Youth Departments, redesigned the Library's Annual Report, led the Teen Book Club and weeded the local history collection.
