Profile bio

About Sarah Dods Phd

I bring energy, enthusiasm, and considerable brain power to everything I do, and have a lifelong love affair with bringing bleeding edge technology to life. My passion is helping businesses embrace its possibilities while managing risk to achieve commercial outcomes, and I’ve done so across 4 different industry sectors.Over more than 20 years, the journey this has taken me on has segued from technical to business leadership. Skills I’ve developed along the way are in bridging strategic, technical, and operational perspectives, leading in high levels of uncertainty and managing change. The foundation those skills are built on is a combination of high EQ with deep strategic thinking, an entrepreneurial mindset and strong operational management skills, backed up by intellect, STEM training and incurable enthusiasm. As a leader, I enjoy fostering culture where people thrive, stretching individuals to grow while building trust to build high performing teams. My philosophy is based on 4 points:📌 To bring out their best, people need to feel safe, supported, informed, energised and empowered. We have each other’s backs and focus on our “why.”📌 Diversity and inclusion matters. Diversity means more life experience across the team gives us more power to make good decisions and spot hidden problems. Inclusion means everyone in the team knows their uniqueness is a strength and their voice is welcome and valued.📌 It has to be OK to be wrong sometimes – testing the wrong path is often the only way the right path forward becomes clear. I’m also allowed to be wrong on occasion and expect my team to tell me when they can see what I can’t. 📌 Implementing new tech is mostly about people and change. A shared sense of purpose with some empathy helps enormously in finding workable solutions to the many challenges that arise. The digital revolution we are living through is something I find endlessly fascinating (I think we're about 50 years into a 100 year transformation). I’ve had the privilege of mapping global megatrends driving future opportunities for a range of industry sectors. I have been a technologist, co-founded startups, and led corporate initiatives to bring new data and analytics products and business concepts to market. Right now, the enormous potential of data science and AI has my full attention, as companies learn how to harness their data assets. This space is still growing its ecosystem, and I’m relishing being part of it and the new possibilities it opens up for business innovation and evolution.

Tiny Bright Things is transforming the way we see (and measure) tiny things.Existing microscopy tools trade-off spatial resolution against slow and complicated workflows, blunting the cutting edge of research and undermining modern manufacturing. By reimagining the way a scene is illuminated, TBT Halo microscopy products deliver “impossible” imaging and measurement down to the nanoscale as fast as you can take a picture, enabling whole new fields of discovery and supercharging manufacturing with real-time process insights.
