My journey in occupational therapy started early on. In my adolescence I stepped up to help my mother care for my grandmother as she battled breast cancer. This impacted me in ways I did not expect. I was fulfilled helping my mother care for her even though it was difficult to process. This set me on the trajectory of my career path. I have always considered myself to be a cheerleader for my loved ones and friends. I cheered my grandmother on when I helped her walk across the room, I cheered on my students when they joined in to play with the other kids at recess, and now everyday I get to see my own pediatric clients progress and master new skills that will help them in their day to day. The experiences I encountered young (though tough) have empowered me to enable my own clients to learn the importance of a growth mindset and make gains everyday.
