Sarah is an experienced Washington reporter with a history of telling narrative stories centered on real people.Recently, Sarah covered government accountability, the Justice Department and national security for the Los Angeles Times, with a focus on the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection, domestic extremism and attempts to influence the 2024 election. She previously covered Congress for The Times, where her work documenting the implementation of emergency COVID funding received the Sigma Delta Chi Award for Washington Correspondence in 2020. Her investigation into why rioters broke certain windows led to changes in the physical structure of the Capitol building after Jan. 6, 2021. Sarah is also the former Washington correspondent for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and a statehouse reporter in Arkansas, Idaho and Missouri.Sarah contributed to the LA Times team that won the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for breaking news coverage of the San Bernardino mass shooting. A graduate of the University of Missouri, Sarah has served on the National Press Club Board of Governors and led the Regional Reporters Association and the Standing Committee of Correspondents.
