• In this position, I continued my postdoctoral fellowship from The Hamner Institute through UNC Chapel Hill. The fellowship was sponsored by Janssen Pharamceuticals, with the following goals and deliverables:
• To identify exosome-derived, drug-induced liver injury (DILI) biomarkers that can be used to predict and better understand DILI reactions
• To optimize protocols for isolating exosomes from primary rat and human hepatocytes
• To differentiate biomarkers that are associated with poorly understood idiosyncratic DILI vs. intrinsic DILI reactionsI have expertise in multiple hepatocyte culture systems including primary human hepatocyte cell.

I began my postdoctoral fellowship under the direction of Dr. Paul Watkins, MD and the Hamner-UNC Institute of Drug Safety Sciences. Within this Institute, there is a focus on drug safety as it relates to liver injury.Due to the closing of the Hamner Institutes, this postdoctoral fellowship continued through UNC Chapel Hill.

• Studied the specific, high affinity binding of a series of stable 2’-F RNA aptamers to a membranous target on Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma (PDAC) cells
• Worked to identify the novel target(s) of these RNA aptamers
• Analyzed data with molecular biology techniques including immunohistochemistry, confocal microscopy, flow cytometry, gel electrophoresis, and in vivo imaging
