I am currently based out of Colorado as a field geologist contributing to environmental remediation projects. As a consultant for Woodard & Curran, I ensure commitment and integrity drive results in everything that I do. In addition to soil, air, surface water, and groundwater sampling, I perform data management and research. My passion for environmental preservation motivates me to log long hours in the field in any conditions.My previous assignment was managing the Environmental, Health, & Safety program at the Louisiana Cancer Research Center. I oversaw laboratory safety, hazardous and biomedical waste disposal, incident investigation, and regulatory compliance. My undergraduate studies focused on igneous petrology, geologic mapping, and independent research. I completed a thesis focusing on emplacement depths, mineralogy, and magmatic origins of a pluton in the remote wilderness of northern California. In addition to my experience as Geology Club vice president, I served as a teaching assistant in an Optical Petrography lab where I assisted students in identifying igneous, metamorphic, and alteration minerals in hand sample and thin section. In this role I worked one-on-one with students to understand magmatic and metamorphic processes and concepts.I consistently held positions in the service industry while completing my bachelor's degree. From these jobs I have gleaned irreplaceable skills and experiences with, but not limited to: communication, organization, time management, leadership, training new employees, teamwork, conversational Spanish, mentorships, professional presentation, customer service, flexibility in work schedule, maintaining calm in fast-paced environments, and thinking on my feet.While working and attending college, I have always made time to travel and explore the outdoors in the form of Pacific Northwest road trips and backpacking excursions. In 2019, I had the great pleasure of hiking on the Pacific Crest Trail where I strengthened my wilderness navigation skills, met and hiked with people from all across the globe, and practiced intense self-discipline. My passion for ecology and endless curiosity are best suited for work in the backcountry.When I'm not backpacking through rugged terrain, you can find me testing out new recipes in the kitchen, hiking in local parks, and reading travel narratives.
