I believe that every child is a unique individual with distinctive needs. These needs include a safe, caring environment where they can develop intellectually, socially, and emotionally. As an educator, I aspire to provide all students with a nurturing learning environment where these needs can be met. A quote by Sydney J. Harris touches upon my teaching philosophy: “The three hardest tasks in the world are neither physical feats nor intellectual achievements, but moral acts: to return love for hate, to include the excluded, and to say, ‘I was wrong.’”Students with academic, emotional, and behavioral needs are the students I connect with and enjoy working with most. My goal in teaching students of different abilities is to encourage them, through our interactions, to grow into empathetic and independent learners. With this, I believe that building trust with parents and guardians is an essential part of cultivating my students' social and emotional growth. Through our collaborative efforts, we support the whole student, giving them the tools to succeed.In addition to teaching, I am a Certified Massage Therapist, Yoga Instructor and Reiki Practitioner and provide after-school classes to both teachers and students. My focus on self-regulation skills and sensory needs has led me to use mindfulness as a beneficial tool to foster self-regulation in students. Recently, I applied for a grant through Donors Choose and received enough meditation cushions and yoga mats for a class of 30 students. I have seen the positive effects of these practices among all ages and learners.As a Certified Massage Therapist, Reiki Practitioner, and Yoga Instructor, I guide my clients to relieve stress, reduce anxiety, and restore balance to their lives. I am a graduate of the Massage Therapy & Asian Bodywork program at Pacific College of Health and Science formerly, known as Pacific College of Oriental Medicine. I am a member of the Energy Medicine Professional Association, American Massage Therapy Association, and Yoga Alliance.
