County Extension Agent
As the Fergus/Petroleum County Family Consumer Sciences and 4-H/Youth Development Extension Agent, I wear many hats. My main focus is to identify needs within my community and find ways to meet those needs that are research-based. I do this by creating and implementing my own programs and through facilitating evidence-based programs I am trained in. I have acquired many certifications that help meet needs within my community that cover a broad range of topics including food safety, caregiving for family members, mental health, strength training for older adults, and team building. Graduate Research And Teaching Assistant
During my time in Graduate School at Utah State University, I worked as both a Research and Teaching Assistant in various areas within the College of Education and Human Services. I was a teaching assistant for three undergraduate-level courses - Human Development Across the Lifespan (2 semesters), Adult Development and Aging (2 semesters) and Mental Health Literacy (1 semester). I also was a research assistant in the areas of aging adult research and mental health literacy research.
Group Home Care Provider
During the pandemic, I got the opportunity to spend a summer in Choteau, Montana due to the pandemic and was unable to go back to graduate school in person until August. I learned many valuable skills working at Choteau Activities. I assisted adults with developmental disabilities in daily living activities including bathing, eating, managing finances, and recreational activities. I learned about care plans and the importance of following each individual's plan so that they can have the highest quality of life. I also transported patients and was responsible for their safety during transportation outside of the group home throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
Intern
As a senior in college, I was given the opportunity to be an intern at the Boys and Girls Club of Southwest Montana. My responsibilities included planning and implementing all acitvities for the after school program and planning summer camp following particular themes. I also worked as a camp counselor to help implement the programs I planned.
