Animal Sciences became a major part of my life as soon as I started showing livestock for nine years during 4-H. Those years lead me to getting involved with animal science based topics in FFA where I began to experience my leadership skills and my communication skills during various competitions which I enjoyed presenting my knowledge on sheep and cattle breeding. After graduating high school, I started my journey at Purdue University majoring in Animal Sciences with a concentration in Production. Within the four years at Purdue, I have learned more animal science knowledge and have been involved with two clubs that have allowed me to network with more people to get my foot into the industry. Purdue Block and Bridle and Farrowing Club have allowed me to experience and meet new people that I could potentially work with in the future. I have had job positions at two different swine companies, a position at a dog boarding facility, and currently a position at a sheep farm as a herdsman. Through these positions I have learned what species truly interest me and what it takes to complete work within different types of farms. These opportunities have also given me a more realistic idea of what I want to do after my education at Purdue University, which is Reproduction with some form of AI.
