I started my professional career in Hewlett-Packard on my 18th birthday, when I was legally able sign the confidential paperwork required. I began as a telephone operator, routing clients to the appropriate department, and served as a Spanish/English interpreter for technical support calls from Latin America. I spent five years learning not only technical support knowledge (operating systems, printing technology, networks, developing user manuals and training programs etc.) but also absorbing the importance of corporate culture, values, and employee motivation and engagement. I moved on from HP because I was 22 and needed to live a bit more before settling into a career like the one I already had. I wanted to travel the world, evolve and discover my true passions. After quite a bit of travel and self-discovery I found myself in Barcelona teaching English. I loved it. Something about trying my best to understand people, their strengths, weaknesses, fears and motivations in order to plan a way for them to learn and grow, to gain confidence and reach their goals really clicked. This path naturally led me towards leadership roles. Today I am the managing director for King’s Training and have over 18 years’ experience in management and leadership roles. I am passionate about people, about what makes them tick, how people and team dynamics work together to create and drive organizations. I love facilitating change by creating the space, the culture and values to allow for authentic personal contribution, for strategic thought and innovation. I would say the words that most motivate my actions and decisions as a leader are: trust, authenticity, and vulnerability.
