Sarah Grace Burn Email and Phone Number
I am a practicing English tutor, GCSE exam marker, life coach, mental health and autism specialist social worker with 19 years teaching experience as a secondary school English Teacher (including as Head of Department).I hold an MA, PG Diploma and PG Certificate in social work, a PG Certificate in Psychology, a PGCE in English and a BA Hons in English with Management Studies so I know quite a bit about exams... and anxiety about exams.I love working with neurodivergent people and am equally happy tutoring children and adults, and currently support degree and masters level social work students through mentoring and coworking with a view to taking my practice educator post graduate qualification later this year. I have taught or tutored Drama, English Language, English Literature, Media Studies, Asdan, Functional Skills Entry 1- Level 2 for a range of exam boards and qualifications including BTEC, GCSE and City and Guilds. I focus on flexible online tuition for those that are more comfortable with online communication than face to face and am particularly skilled in identifying and supporting reasonable adjustments for all levels of attainment. And I am currently writing a book to be published later this year. I myself am a passionate lifelong learner, happy to "try my hand" at anything and energised by learning, developing and practising new skills. Almost two decades in the education sector have given me a deep well of resilience, and highly developed problem solving and communication skills. It has also made me a proponent of the idiom “work smarter not harder”, who strives to devise and promote more efficient and productive working practices. As a leader, both in education and in my wider pursuits, I respect individuals’ strengths and differences and believe that by working collaboratively we get the best from others and ourselves. Sharing good practice, particularly where there are complementary skills is a good starting point to ensure cohesive and innovative thinking and action. I am determined and decisive; using initiative to develop effective solutions to problems. I am reliable and dependable – with high personal standards and attention to detail. This means I thrive in high pressure environments that require a high degree of accountability. I have excellent interpersonal skills, am a good communicator, with high integrity and strong planning, organising and monitoring abilities – in short- an efficient time-manager. I am self-sufficient, self-motivated and results driven, keen to make new contacts and share learning.
