I am a Senior Research Assistant in Applied Health Psychology at Cardiff Metropolitan University, where my work centres on developing shared decision-making tools for individuals with pregnancy potential and a diagnosis of epilepsy who are prescribed sodium valproate. My educational background includes a British Psychological Society (BPS) accredited BSc (Hons) in Psychology (First Class) and a BPS accredited St Stage 1 MSc in Health Psychology (Distinction). I am a Graduate Member of the BPS, have had training from the British Healthcare Business Intelligence Association (BHBIA) and have experience in qualitative and quantitative analysis. I have a versatile skillset that covers all aspects of research study design, from meticulous planning to effective execution, coupled with adept project management, and I demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of research methodologies. My professional journey extends beyond academia into the life science industry, where I've gained valuable experience. My research interests are deeply rooted in shared decision-making, patient-recorded outcomes, and optimising healthcare communication, with a particular focus on reproductive health and long-term health conditions. My Health Psychology MSc dissertation involved designing and executing a novel COM-B theory-based qualitative study to explore the barriers and facilitators to accessing shared decision-making individuals with pregnancy potential experience when prescribed valproate for epilepsy treatment. Subsequently, the Welsh Government funded project has been taken forward (with further Welsh Government funding) and is now advancing into its second phase, with a practical application focus. Alongside my supervisors, I am preparing this research for publication. .
