This includes projects and functions such as: --Managing system-wide compliance at local, state, and federal level. I work closely with my team to ensure our policies and processes meet legal standards and operational best practices, and maintain multiple, ongoing compliance initiatives as needed to reduce legal risk and maintain profitability. Examples include FCRA/Ban-The-Box, I-9 and E-Verify, FLSA and California DLSE, WOTC, and many more.--Developing and implementing coaching/training methods to ensure the ongoing growth of my team members into senior-level staff. This includes writing SOPs, handbooks, manuals, and leading regular one-on-one meetings and group sessions related to personal and professional improvement. It also includes maintaining accountability, follow-through, and the necessary culture for difficult conversations.--Managing department relations across corporate infrastructure, and creating and maintaining a positive perception of “risk management” with PrideStaff field offices as a resource and partner for best business practices resulting in sustainable profit. This includes ongoing, proactive communication and education at an individual and organizational level.

--Developed comprehensive management and leadership for the growing Risk Management Department, including recruitment, hiring, technical training, professional development and ongoing coaching/consulting, as well as oversight of all department workflow, special projects, and vendor relationships. Ensure all team members have the skills and expertise necessary to carry out each function of the department successfully, with enterprise risk management as the goal.--Created and led a program to support the growing franchise system across the US in the areas of operational best practices, resolution of employee issues, mitigating insurance and legal expenses, and full-spectrum state and federal legal compliance, resulting in year-over-year growth of a $200+ million staffing company that issued more than 40,000 W-2s in 2018.--Managed the company’s workers’ compensation program, from claims intake processes to annual insurance renewal, resulting in an experience modifier 30% better than the industry average during a six-year transition from 80% clerical business to 60+% industrial business. --Worked closely with Senior VP of Field Operations in creating a web-based training and accountability program that creates an overall culture of profitability with every team member of every office in the system. It combined sales, operations, customer satisfaction, and risk management, with an emphasis on how each area intersects and impacts the bottom line of both the corporate office and individual franchises.--Trained and advised all Home Office Department Heads on how to effectively manage their teams and department resources. Created and department-specific resources and training manuals to assist with employee onboarding/engagement/retention and optimal field service. --Developed curriculum and led group courses to assist PrideStaff Associates around the country in earning their “Certified Staffing Professional” designation through the American Staffing Association.

• Responsible for onboarding and training new hires within the Risk Management Department as it continued to grow. Assisted in leading a team that grew from two to six employees in a five-year period. This included managing the workflow of the department and the career development of individual team members.• Managed employee issues from intake to resolution, including dealing with the EEOC, DFEH, and the DOL. Assisted franchise owners across the country in resolving employee complaints to prevent insurance claims and litigation.• Continued managing the approval of all new business for the company, to include underwriting of additional risks, by contractual risk transfer or obtaining supplemental insurance coverage.• Responsible for managing the full workers’ compensation process, which included: maintaining a relationship with our providers, managing claims from injury to resolution/settlement, accident investigation and implementation of corrective action, and working with our offices and their clients on closing operational gaps and implementing loss prevention strategies.• HR related experience included managing unemployment, WOTC, I-9 compliance, and medical leave processes for the company• Provided corporate training for new hires from across the country, focusing on EEO, ADA, workers’ compensation, safety, and general operational best practices.

--Hired by Risk Manager to help create and implement a comprehensive risk management program for a rapidly growing staffing company. Together we created system-wide “best practices,” policies, and manuals that are still in use today.--Reviewed and approved/declined new business opportunities by evaluating safety surveys and assigning the appropriate workers’ compensation codes for insurance purposes.--Intake on all employee related issues, including workers’ compensation, wage and hour complaints, harassment and discrimination claims, and any other labor complaints.
