Curatorial Assistant
Mountainville, Ny
As part of a small team at Storm King, I produced, wrote, and edited all special exhibition-related print and digital materials, including catalogues, brochures, websites, signage, and indoor wall labels. Past exhibitions I worked on include David Smith: The White Sculptures, Indicators: Artists on Climate Change, and Mark Dion: Follies. I've likewise helped realize our yearly Outlooks projects, including works by Heather Hart, Elaine Cameron-Weir, and Jean Shin. Part of this work on exhibitions, due to the nature of Storm King's unique outdoor and indoor viewing spaces, has meant I've overseen the fabrication and installation of indoor and outdoor temporary and permanent works of art. In addition to doing extensive research and writing for each exhibition, I've also been the administrative lead for these projects as well, fulfilling loan agreements and artist contracts. Additionally, I've drafted and updated budgets, checklists, production timelines, and grant proposals for these exhibitions. I've likewise worked with a film crew to produce short educational films accompanying these seasonal exhibitions. While my position at Storm King has required me to be both research-saavy and detail-oriented, I also have acted as a key representative to the public. I've guided tours and represented the organization for artists, trustees, donors, other museums and private collections, and members of the press. I also am the primary liaison for the young collectors group, Storm King Circle, with our development team. In addition to Storm King's special exhibitions, I also maintain important permanent collection resources, including editing and advising on visitor maps, the collection handbook, and on-site signage; I also aided in drafting the mission statement and finalizing editorial guidelines. With the archivist, I instituted a collection management system, Collective Access, and oriented this open-source software to be specific to Storm King's unique needs.
